Expertise: Applied economics

Prof. Iacobucci research interests are in the fields of business groups, entrepreneurship, and clustering. He has been studying the growth strategies and organization of small and medium sized firms and developed an entrepreneurship perspective to explain the presence of business groups and their organization.

On the role of clustering and agglomeration economy he is investigating the role of related variety, as opposed to specialization, in influencing firms behavior and performance. He is involved in several research projects about regional innovation systems and on the role of university technology transfer activity and academic entrepreneurship (spin-offs).

Capsule Bio

From 2005 he has been Associate professor of applied economics at Università Politecnica delle Marche (Faculty of Engineering) where he teaches courses on the economics and organization of firms and on industrial economics. Before joining Università Politecnica delle Marche in 2001, he was researcher of applied economics and assistant professor of business economics at the University of Urbino.

From 1985 to 1994 he did research and consulting activities for private and public institutions in the field of industrial economics with specific regard to the management of small firms and business planning.
 He holds a B.A. from the University of Urbino (Italy) an MBA from ISTAO (Ancona, Italy) and a PhD from the University of Stirling (UK).
